Chaplain Jose, or “Eddie,” grew up in a lively Hispanic household, Raised Catholic, his childhood was marked by Sunday masses, rosary prayers, and ritual.

Yet, despite his dedication to religion, he felt a void. His prayers felt more like rituals than conversations, and his faith seemed more like obligation than passion.

After many trials and a turbulent road, Eddie experienced the grace of God in a way he had never known. Eddie felt a stirring in his heart, a whisper of truth that beckoned him to something deeper.

He asked Jesus to take control of his life, to guide him, and to fill the emptiness within. In that moment, Eddie knew his life would never be the same.

Returning home, Eddie faced many trials. His family struggled to understand his newfound faith, and some friends distanced themselves. Yet, God proved faithful. Eddie found a new church community that embraced him and nurtured his growing faith. He devoured the Bible, eager to learn more about the God who had transformed his heart.

One day, while working on a construction site, Eddie was involved in a terrible accident. A faulty wire sent a powerful surge of electricity through his body. He was declared dead at the scene, his heart having stopped beating. Yet, Eddie found himself standing before the Milky Way, feeling an indescribable peace. He heard a voice, clear and loving, telling him that his work on Earth was not done. Suddenly, he was thrust back into his body, gasping for breath as paramedics worked frantically to revive him.

Eddie’s miraculous return changed everything. He knew that God had a purpose for him, a mission to fulfill. He began sharing his testimony, speaking of God’s grace and power to anyone who would listen. His passion for God grew, fueled by the knowledge that he had been given a second chance at life.

In time, Eddie felt called to start a men’s ministry. He founded Building(Man)+, a group dedicated to helping men pursue God’s own heart.

On top of leading the Men’s Ministry his ultimate ministry is his life’s mission; to lead his wife and children according to scripture. He is married to Brooke Peña and together they are raising 7 wave-walkers, ever growing in the complexity of what it means to truly be a Christian.
